The Boat Trip
THE BOAT TRIP
Today started out with a nice looking swell out in Hermosa but 2 closed out so our buddy Garrett who has a dingy said lets hit "blah,blahs"..which is an A-frame wedgy wave on a nice reef...So we show up to the bay where the boat is tied up, Garrett paddle boards to it,breaks a $300 graphite paddle....We eventually get the boat and cruise to the spot...We pull up to 1st wave in sight is DAne Reynolds driving down the line(u cud tell his style) and he punts a full rotation air 3..almost had my camera ready."almost"..hah anyways the waves were good! ..It is the best waves ive seen in as long as i can remember..The lefts were sucking up off the reef and draining and bending at u like a machine..The rights were doubling up and looked like an average day at lance's rights in Indo....I took the gopro out and held it in my hand and got Dane on a few good ones plus everybody else that was in my line of fire...I then surfed for a good hour and then it got to high tide so we left...Normally this would end the story BUT not my life....We start to head back and out boat had tons of barnicle on it that shud be cleaned off b4 going so the moter was working double...We are just cruising in at 10mph and all a sudden burp,burp we run out of gas in the middle of the bay,with no paddles...So we start to paddle with our hands,it does nothing ofcourse...So Garrett keeps trying to crank it and our only hope at this point is geting towed in by the next boat whenever that may be...Out of no where it cranks! yewww!! and barley glides and runs out at the tie up buoy..BUT i still have this bigAss cooler with the video camera in it and the tripod so i have to paddle my board which is 1/2 mile paddle get a the paddle board and paddle back out there n get the gear and paddle inn and negotiate with the shorebreak....FINALLY made it to the shore with the best arm workout i could aske for.Then we go to the local"soda" to eat the dank buffet and make it home safe and sound..Im taking a napp...I mite not wake up til tomorw...

Not just a vacation...It changed my life.
When "STRESS" is all you have you can not focus on your work,your family or your life entirely.
That is where i was 3weeks ago...Sum would call it a "surf trip"....But this one was different,it was not only a solo Journey to Costa Rica,it was a soul searching trip for my mind and body...Ofcourse i was not alone once i got there,I stay with my good lifetime friend Aaron who lives in Hermosa,Costa Rica living the dream everyday..He rents the Bungalows where he lives and gets to surf everyday at least 2 times a day..The Journey started with Aarons truck breaking down 2nd day there so we had to ride the scooter he just happen to recently buy and it was all good,we scooted everywhere and hitched rides to town to markets to get food and liquor.We made the most of our days so by the time night came we were passing out by 8pm...Along the way i realized that life in the states might not be for me..I saw potential in film making for not only surfing, but for small local buisiness's needing commercials or promo vids for their facebook pages or websites...It is a big descision for me...But i have no kids and no girlfriend so besides my family there is nothing to hold me back from living what could be my dream..."If you build it,they will come" has always been one of my sayings and in this case meaning ,build my life and my girl will appear when im ready..Until then im going to go hard at making this a reality and pull in as many tubes that come in my way..I had alot of "weird" or "alien" type beetlejuices that helped show me this vision or maybe im really crazy and have lost it....At this point im not sure anymore...But what i do know is that i love my family,my friends and my life and im here to make movies and this is what makes me happy so im going to keep on keeping on.Puravida.
